2025: A Year of Growth

For the McLean Trees Foundation, 2025 was a remarkable year defined by growth, generosity, and deepening community roots. Fueled by dedicated volunteers and expanding local support, MTF achieved its most productive year yet. Volunteers contributed more than 1,300 hours of work improving McLean’s parks, showing the extraordinary impact of neighbors coming together with the shared purpose of making McLean an ever-greener place to live. Thank you!

While walking in your McLean neighborhood, local parks, and public-school grounds, you’ll see some of the new native trees planted by MTF. Our Tree Champions Program helped homeowners plant 30 native trees, strengthening their own neighborhood canopies. The Neighborhood Tree Program brought families together to learn how to plant and nurture trees in their own yards. In addition, MTF planted 22 large native trees in Lewinsville, Churchill, Greenway Heights and McLean Hunt parks, and at McLean public schools.

With the help of its many volunteers, MTF restored large swaths of native habitat at Lewinsville Park and Churchill Park. The entire front of Lewinsville Park along Chain Bridge Road was cleared of invasive plants, and more than 400 native saplings were planted and protected by deer fencing.
Our community leadership was recognized with county awards for individual MTF board members, reflecting MTF’s growing impact. Yet the greatest reward is visible every day—in healthier parks, restored forests, and a greener, more resilient McLean.

Together, we are planting the future.  Fueled by dedicated volunteers and expanding local support, MTF achieved its most productive year yet.
